Dr. Simón Pardiñas has collaborated with the MIR foundation and the NGO World Smiles in carrying out more than 200 free dental treatments in La Romana (Dominican Republic).
MIR Foundation, more than 30 years helping in the Dominican Republic
The MIR Foundation (Mission International Rescue) is a non-profit organization that works to help marginalized people in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic. MIR offers training and food to children in the area and also oral health services in collaboration with the NGO World of Smiles in New York.
The work of the NGO World of Smile in the Dominican Republic
The New York NGO World of Smiles has prepared a dental clinic within the MIR Foundation premises. Throughout the year, two local dentists work in that clinic, serving children with preventive programs ranging from check-ups, extractions or other types of treatments. In addition, twice a year dental professionals and students from New York and surrounding areas join together to expand this work.
The role of Dr. Simón Pardiñas in this solidarity journey
Dr. Pardiñas joined one of these collaborative trips in November 2024. His job was to coordinate the oral surgery area, mainly performing wisdom tooth extractions, frenectomies, along with supervising and teaching students at the University of Stony Brook. During the week they were in the area, they performed more than 200 dental treatments on both children and adults.
Clínica Pardiñas and its social commitment
Although this work has been carried out in a personal capacity by Dr. Pardiñas, in 2013 we created the Clínica Pardiñas Foundation to care for the oral health of the most disadvantaged Galicians. One more example of the social commitment of our clinic and our medical team.
